VANCOUVER, British Columbia, Oct. 29, 2026 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Methanex Corporation (the 'Company” or 'Methanex”) (TSX: MX) (Nasdaq: MEOH) announced today that its Board of Directors has approved a Normal Course Issuer Bid ('NCIB”) whereby the Company will be entitled to purchase for cancellation up to 3,868,213 common shares ('Shares”), representing 5% of the 77,364,263 Shares issued and outstanding as of October 29, 2026. Purchases under the NCIB may commence on November 4, 2026 and end no later than November 3, 2027. Any purchases will be made from time to time at the then current market price of the Shares and all Shares purchased under the NCIB will be cancelled.
TickrTrends take: Methanex's board approval of a 5% share repurchase program represents a capital allocation decision that typically reduces share count, which can support earnings per share metrics going forward. Given TickrTrends' current undervalued assessment of MEOH within the Basic Materials sector, such a repurchase could enhance per-share value if the company executes the program at prices consistent with its current valuation levels. Investors focused on valuation should monitor how the repurchase pace aligns with methanol market conditions and the company's cash generation, as these factors will determine whether the capital is deployed opportunistically.
